We encourage you to prepare for corporate worship by reading and praying through the text prior to the message on Sunday.

CORPORATE WORSHIP SONGS

Here are the songs we will be singing together this Sunday:

  1. Good Good Father

  2. Lord I Need You

  3. In Christ Alone

  4. His Forever

  5. Knees to the Earth

  6. Great Are You Lord

NEW CITY CATECHISM #7

Question: What does the law of God require?

Answer: Personal, perfect, and perpetual obedience; that we love God with all our heart, soul, mind, and strength; and love our neighbor as ourselves. What God forbids should never be done and what God commands should always be done.

Scripture Memory Verse: Matthew 22:37-40.

WEEKLY DISCIPLESHIP RESOURCES

Here are a few discipleship resources our elders recommend checking out this week.

  1. Why God Won’t Give You Everything You Want - Our lives are more than our possessions (Lk. 12:15). Our identity can’t be found in owning certain things but in belonging to God as his beloved (Eph. 1:1-14). God doesn’t give us what we want, but he does, and has, given us everything we need and more in Christ Jesus.

  2. The Every Member Ministry of Encouragement - We need daily reminders of Jesus and the gospel. The satanic powers don’t take days off. They don’t have weekends. So, this means a Sunday worship service and two hours in a small group isn’t a wise way to wage spiritual warfare. We need a daily help. Daily. Daily hearing of God’s voice in the Word, “Today, if you hear his voice, do not harden your hearts as in the rebellion” (Heb. 3:15), and daily encouragement from one another. This is your ministry.

  3. Three Ways to Escape Self-Importance - Jesus calls all who follow him to carry their crosses, which includes putting to death our exaggerated, false sense of self-importance. Here are three valuable habits to put into practice.

Please read them and use them as discipleship opportunities to discuss with one another.

WEEKLY DISCIPLESHIP RESOURCES

Here are a few discipleship resources our elders recommend checking out this week.

  1. Seven Ways We Can Guard and Repair Relationships - One of the most beautiful scenes in the Bible is between brothers who had been long alienated: “Esau ran to meet him and embraced him and fell on his neck and kissed him, and they wept” (Gen. 33:4). God wants that beauty to reappear in every generation, including ours right now.

  2. Connecting Evangelism and Church - The life of a converted people, grouped together in congregations, should also commend the gospel that saved them. “Gospel doctrine,” Ray Ortlund has written, “creates a gospel culture.” And that culture, embodied in our churches, should be attractive to outsiders, at least to some (see 2 Cor. 2:15-16).

  3. Imperfections Make Sundays More Beautiful - The only perfect worship service is the one envisioned in Revelation, where God’s redeemed people praise him in the new creation. Until then, God in his wisdom grants clumsy mistakes and awkward moments to occur in our gatherings — precisely because it’s for our good.

Please read them and use them as discipleship opportunities to discuss with one another.

WEEKLY DISCIPLESHIP RESOURCES

Here are a few discipleship resources our elders recommend checking out this week.

  1. I Can't Do This, God - Humans are impressed by the whole range of human strengths. But God is only impressed by one human strength: strong faith. Because faith is a dependence on God’s strength.

  2. Three Methods to Keep You Praying - We know we need to pray. We know we’re called to it. We know that our lack of prayerfulness is a sign that we are unconscious of just how dependent we are upon God and that we are comfortable operating in our own strength. But still, how do we make it a regular practice?

  3. Can We Have Jesus Without the Church? - If we are in union with Christ, the head, then we are necessarily also connected to his body, the church.

Please read them and use them as discipleship opportunities to discuss with one another.
