This Sunday, June 30, 2019, Pastor Tony will be preaching from Acts 17:1-34. We encourage you to prepare for corporate worship by reading and praying through the text prior to the message on Sunday.
Here are the songs we will be singing together this Sunday:
Let Us Adore
Behold Our God
Jesus Paid It All
Lord How I Need You
Be Still My Soul (In You I Rest)
This Sunday, we continue our classes on the Spiritual Disciplines of the Christian Life. This week, we will look at “Journaling.”
Please join us this Sunday at 10 am in the Fellowship Hall. All are welcome!
NEW CITY CATECHISM #26
Question: What else does Christ’s death redeem?
Answer: Christ’s death is the beginning of the redemption and renewal of every part of fallen creation, as he powerfully directs all things for his own glory and creation’s good.
Scripture Memory Verse: Colossians 1:19–20.
WEEKLY DISCIPLESHIP RESOURCES
Here are a few discipleship resources our elders recommend checking out this week.
Come Prepared as You Listen to the Preaching of God’s Word - Because the preaching of God’s Word is the most significant and challenging part of public worship, it requires mental, emotional, physical, and spiritual participation from not only the pastor but also the listeners.
Help! I Don’t Know How to Bring My Faith to Work - For Christians, work has value. Work is more than witness. Work must also be more than a means to the good life. And work can’t be divided from who we are as followers of Christ.
He's a Good Father, Even in Our Suffering - There are many mysteries which God claims are His secrets (Deuteronomy 29:29). The gap between my wisdom and God’s is infinitely wider than the gap between my son’s understanding and my knowing that the pain of his pricked heel was ultimately good for him (Isaiah 55:8-9). I trust that one day we will have insight into His wisdom, but we rarely have it in full in this life.
Please read them and use them as discipleship opportunities to discuss with one another.
Just a reminder that we will be gathering for Corporate Prayer this Sunday at 3pm. Students will be meeting in their Student Groups during this time as well. All are welcome!
SUPPORT THE HRF BUILDING FUND
Hampton Roads Fellowship was recently blessed with the opportunity of being gifted a church building for our congregation. Would you help us raise the necessary funds to be able to make this building our new church home?
You can learn more about the HRF Building Fund here.
HRF STUDENTS - DAY AT THE PARK
Our HRF Students event will be THIS Saturday, June 29th, from 3:00-5:00 pm. We invite any student in Grades 1-12 to come on out to Riverview Farm Park in Newport News to play kickball and other field games! There is also a playground for students who want to play there too. We will provide water and a few light snacks but there is no registration fee for this event. We just ask that you register your student through the link below so we can best prepare for our time together and secure enough adult chaperons.
You can RSVP here.
HRF FAMILY NIGHT - NORFOLK TIDES GAME
Please join us on Friday, August 2nd, at 7:00 PM for HRF Family Night at the Norfolk Tides Baseball Game!
We have reserved the picnic area and will be having an in-game dinner consisting of hot dogs, hamburgers, fried chicken, sides, desserts, and drinks. HRF will cover some of the cost, so the price per person is only $20, which includes a reserved seat at the game and dinner. For those that are on a tight budget, you can choose to pay at least $10 and HRF will cover the balance. Children under that age of 2 are FREE. Parking is $6 and paid when you arrive.
You can RSVP here.
Come join us as we enjoy a great time of food, fun, and fellowship together!
