HRF Weekly Update - June 23, 2019

This Sunday, June 23, 2019, Pastor Miguel will be preaching from Romans 8:28-30. We encourage you to prepare for corporate worship by reading and praying through the text prior to the message on Sunday.

Here are the songs we will be singing together this Sunday:

  1. Rising Sun

  2. O Praise the Name (Anástasis)

  3. All I Have Is Christ

  4. His Forever

  5. To the Cross I Cling

  6. Great Are You Lord

This Sunday, we continue our classes on the Spiritual Disciplines of the Christian Life. This week, we will look at “Learning.”

Please join us this Sunday at 10 am in the Fellowship Hall. All are welcome!

Question: Does Christ’s death mean all our sins can be forgiven?

Answer: Yes, because Christ’s death on the cross fully paid the penalty for our sin, God graciously imputes Christ’s righteousness to us as if it were our own and will remember our sins no more.

Scripture Memory Verse: 2 Corinthians 5:21.

Here are a few discipleship resources our elders recommend checking out this week.

  1. How to Love God and Your Neighbor through Your Work - To work in the name of the Lord Jesus is to work in a way that reflects his character and joins his mission.

  2. Once Abused by the Church, Now I Love the Church - Christ is the head of the church, and he has given the church and its leadership as gifts to all believers, including me. Knowing these truths frees me to love my church, to submit joyfully to its leadership, and to flourish under its care.

  3. Three Ways the Gospel Changes Our Generosity - The gospel doesn't motivate our generosity with guilt, but with grace. Here are three ways the gospel changes our generosity.

Please read them and use them as discipleship opportunities to discuss with one another.

Hampton Roads Fellowship was recently blessed with the opportunity of being gifted a church building for our congregation. Would you help us raise the necessary funds to be able to make this building our new church home?

Our HRF Students event will be Saturday, June 29th, from 3:00-5:00 pm. We invite any student in Grades 1-12 to come on out to Riverview Farm Park in Newport News to play kickball and other field games! There is also a playground for students who want to play there too. We will provide water and a few light snacks but there is no registration fee for this event. We just ask that you register your student through the link below so we can best prepare for our time together and secure enough adult chaperons.

You can RSVP here.

Please join us on Friday, August 2nd, at 7:00 PM for HRF Family Night at the Norfolk Tides Baseball Game!

We have reserved the picnic area and will be having an in-game dinner consisting of hot dogs, hamburgers, fried chicken, sides, desserts, and drinks. HRF will cover some of the cost, so the price per person is only $20, which includes a reserved seat at the game and dinner. For those that are on a tight budget, you can choose to pay at least $10 and HRF will cover the balance. Children under that age of 2 are FREE. Parking is $6 and paid when you arrive.

You can RSVP here.

Come join us as we enjoy a great time of food, fun, and fellowship together!
