HRF Weekly Update - June 9, 2019

This Sunday, June 2, 2019, Pastor Tony will be preaching from Romans 6:20-23. We encourage you to prepare for corporate worship by reading and praying through the text prior to the message on Sunday.

Here are the songs we will be singing together this Sunday:

  1. Revive Us Again

  2. Give To Our God Immortal Praise

  3. Psalm 45

  4. Is He Worthy

  5. Psalm 46

  6. Come Behold the Wondrous Mystery

  7. Great Is Thy Faithfulness

This Sunday, we continue our classes on the Spiritual Disciplines of the Christian Life. This week, we will look at “Bible Reading.”

Please join us this Sunday at 10 am in the Fellowship Hall. All are welcome!

Question: Why must the Redeemer be truly God?

Answer: That because of his divine nature his obedience and suffering would be perfect and effective; and also that he would be able to bear the righteous anger of God against sin and yet overcome death.

Scripture Memory Verse: Acts 2:24.

Here are a few discipleship resources our elders recommend checking out this week.

  1. Adoption: The Sweetest Doctrine - Adoption is at the heart of the story line of the Bible.

  2. 7 Ways to Become a Better Sermon Listener - After the parable of the sower, Jesus says: “Consider carefully how you listen” (Luke 8:18). He says if we listen in one way, we will be given more, but if we listen in another way, even what we think we have will be taken from us. It’s a life-and-death business, listening to sermons. So let us consider carefully how to listen. Here are seven pointers.

  3. But God Makes No Mistakes - There is no condition in which it’s impossible to be a true Christian and to exemplify all the wonderful virtues of Christianity.

Please read them and use them as discipleship opportunities to discuss with one another.

Our next HRF Students event will be this Saturday, June 8th from 3pm - 5pm. We invite any student in Grades 1-12 to come on out to Riverview Farm Park in Newport News to play kickball and other field games! There is also a playground for students who want to play there too. We will provide water and a few light snacks but there is no registration fee for this event. We just ask that you register your student through the link below so we can best prepare for our time together and secure enough adult chaperones.

You can RSVP here.

Please join us on Friday, August 2nd, at 7:00 PM for HRF Family Night at the Norfolk Tides Baseball Game!

We have reserved the picnic area and will be having an in-game dinner consisting of hot dogs, hamburgers, fried chicken, sides, desserts, and drinks. HRF will cover some of the cost, so the price per person is only $20, which includes a reserved seat at the game and dinner. For those that are on a tight budget, you can choose to pay at least $10 and HRF will cover the balance. Children under that age of 2 are FREE. Parking is $6 and paid when you arrive.

You can RSVP here.

Come join us as we enjoy a great time of food, fun, and fellowship together!
