NEW CITY CATECHISM #12

Question: What does God require in the ninth and tenth commandments?

Answer: Ninth, that we do not lie or deceive, but speak the truth in love. Tenth, that we are content, not envying anyone or resenting what God has given them or us.

Scripture Memory Verse: James 2:8.

WEEKLY DISCIPLESHIP RESOURCES

Here are a few discipleship resources our elders recommend checking out this week.

  1. The Sufferer I Want to Be - If deliverance from suffering doesn't come, it doesn't mean God hasn't heard your prayers. It means he has a better plan.

  2. Why You Will Join the Wrong Church - Our relationships will ebb and flow, as will our affection for the church. But the solution is not always looking for a better fit.

  3. Love Your Bibles - The problem is that most of us want to hear God’s voice, but we don’t crack our Bibles, and we don’t even buy our own excuses for not doing so. We can all use some fresh motivation.

Please read them and use them as discipleship opportunities to discuss with one another.

Two Sundays ago we began a new HRF Institute Class on "Guidance - Knowing God's Will".

Over the next 2 weeks, we will continue taking a look at what the Bible says about the will of God, how God guides His people, and how we are called to make decisions in all areas of life in light of God's Word.

HRF NEW MEMBERS CLASS - APRIL 7

HRF will be hosting a New Members class on Sunday, April 7, 2019 from 1 pm - 4 pm. This class is an introduction to our church and the responsibilities of membership. Although it is required in order become a member of HRF, in no way does participating in the class obligate you to join HRF. We also recommend that existing members attend this class once a year as a refresher on what membership involves in the life of HRF. Lunch and childcare will be provided.

DISCIPLESHIP GROUP TRAINING - APRIL 14

Would you like to join a Discipleship Group but don't know where to begin?
Would you like to lead a Discipleship Group but don't know what that looks like?

It will also provide you with the necessary tools to help you initiate a discipling relationship and/or be a part of one.

Bring your questions and let's spend some time together getting better equipped in our responsibility to disciple others!

Lunch and childcare will be provided.

NEW CITY CATECHISM #11

Question: What does God require in the sixth, seventh, and eighth commandments?

Answer: Sixth, that we do not hurt, or hate, or be hostile to our neighbor, but be patient and peaceful, pursuing even our enemies with love. Seventh, that we abstain from sexual immorality and live purely and faithfully, whether in marriage or in single life, avoiding all impure actions, looks, words, thoughts, or desires, and whatever might lead to them. Eighth, that we do not take without permission that which belongs to someone else, nor withhold any good from someone we might benefit.

Scripture Memory Verse: Romans 13:9.

WEEKLY DISCIPLESHIP RESOURCES

Here are a few discipleship resources our elders recommend checking out this week.

  1. Biblical Principles for Ethnic Harmony - The hope of overcoming racism cannot truly be found in human effort, worldly philosophies, or even civil rights. The gospel, which reconciles God to sinners, must also reconcile sinners to one another.

  2. The Struggling Christian Myth - We love it when people notice how hard we have it, and we try to leverage that attention into authenticity points for opening up about what we’re going through. Let’s exchange the “struggling Christian” myth for the “united to Christ in his death and resurrection” story.

  3. 37 Ways to Love One Another - Consider the disciple-making that would naturally take place in the life of a local church if every believer would practice the loving, one-another ministry that the early churches first read about in the instructions they received from the apostles.

Please read them and use them as discipleship opportunities to discuss with one another.

WEEKLY DISCIPLESHIP RESOURCES

Here are a few discipleship resources our elders recommend checking out this week.

  1. How Not to Respond to Doubt - Whether it’s the doubts of a child, coworker, neighbor, fellow church member, or friend, there are both helpful and unhelpful ways to respond. First, here are three ways not to respond.

  2. Go to Church — Even When You Don’t Feel Like It - The most important time to be at church is when you don’t feel like it.

  3. 7 Questions For Meaningful Conversation With Believers - We’ve got to move dialogue with believers beyond a superficial level if we are going to really know and encourage one another. But where do we even start? Here are seven questions you might ask.

HRF KIDS - ROOM CHANGES AND NEW KINDERGARTEN CLASS

We are excited to announce a few changes to HRF Kids starting this Sunday, March 3rd. One change we are especially excited about is that we will finally be opening our Kindergarten room! If you are a parent of a kindergartner, please feel free to check them into HRF Kids on Sunday.

To accommodate the new room, we will be changing the room names and arrangement. All HRF Kids rooms will now be referred to by colors! The color names will make it simpler for parents to know which room their child is assigned to. The room your child is in will be on their check in sticker and there will be signs outside each room as well. Myself and others will be there ready and willing to help on Sunday with any questions you have and to direct you to the correct rooms. Here is a list of the rooms with their new names:

  • Green Room (nursery)

  • Blue Room (young toddlers)

  • Yellow Room (toddlers)

  • Purple Room (older toddlers)

  • Red Room (3 and 4 year olds)

  • Orange Room (rising and current kindergartners)

We also have a lactation room upstairs with two rocking chairs for any mom’s who would like to use it!
