HRF Weekly Update - November 5, 2017

This Sunday, November 5, 2017, we will continue our series through the book of James. Pastor Tony will be preaching from James 4:1-10

We encourage you to prepare for corporate worship by reading and praying through the text prior to the message on Sunday. Here is a list of the songs we will be singing this Sunday as well.

Here are a few discipleship resources our elders recommend checking out this week.

  1. Seven Ways We Can Guard and Repair Relationships - One of the most beautiful scenes in the Bible is between brothers who had been long alienated: “Esau ran to meet him and embraced him and fell on his neck and kissed him, and they wept” (Genesis 33:4). God wants that beauty to reappear in every generation, as needed.
  2. Two Church Drifts and How To Address Them - D.A. Carson wrote, “People do not drift toward holiness. Apart from grace-driven effort, people do not gravitate toward godliness, prayer, obedience to Scripture, faith, and delight in the Lord.” The same is true for churches.
  3. Make Every Effort - Our effort can never win God's justifying favor. But let us not misunderstand what it means to be gospel-centered. The gospel that frees us from self-justification also frees us for obedience.

Please read them and use them as discipleship opportunities to discuss with one another. You can also view an archive of recommended discipleship resources here.
