HRF Weekly Update - February 18, 2018

This Sunday, February 18, 2018, we will be having a guest preacher, Pastor Bobby Scott from Community of Faith Bible Church in Los Angeles, California. He will be preaching from Colossians 1:24-29

We encourage you to prepare for corporate worship by reading and praying through the text prior to the message on Sunday. Here is a list of the songs we will be singing this Sunday as well.

Here are a few discipleship resources our elders recommend checking out this week.

  • Neglect the Great Commandment, Hinder the Great Commission - We don’t need to recreate church; we need to live out the church’s calling in light of what Jesus has done (1 John 4:19–21). The world will know we are Christians supremely by our love.
  • God Wants More for You Than You Do - Every good resolve requires the power of God, because the outcomes he wants are bigger than we can produce.
  • Comfort Is a Deadly Compass - We tend to go with our reflex. And for many, this reflex is for personal comfort. When given choices we often tend towards that which is going to be the most comfortable and most personally rewarding.

Please read them and use them as discipleship opportunities to discuss with one another. You can also view an archive of recommended discipleship resources here.

HRF will be hosting a Membership Matters class on April 8, 2018 from 1pm - 4pm.

This class is an introduction to our church and the responsibilities of membership. Although it is required in order to become a member of HRF, in no way does participating in the class obligate you to join HRF. We also recommend that existing members attend this class once a year as a refresher on what membership involves in the life of HRF. Lunch and childcare will be provided.

Please RSVP here if you plan to attend.

We are excited to announce an opportunity to encourage us women to all press forward towards Christ together! Next year, HRF will be hosting a Women's Retreat for the women of HRF. The theme for the 2018 HRF Women's Retreat will be "Gospel, Safety, Time" and should serve as an opportunity for us all to better understand the role we each play in our responsibilities towards one another and cultivating a healthy gospel culture within our church body.
