HRF Weekly Update - April 29, 2018

This Sunday, April 29, 2018, Pastor Tony will be preaching from 1 Peter 5:1-4.

We encourage you to prepare for corporate worship by reading and praying through the text prior to the message on Sunday.

Here are a few discipleship resources our elders recommend checking out this week.

  • God (Usually) Wants You to Keep Knocking - When we get discouraged because we’ve prayed for something for years, what should keep us going in persistent prayer? Does it honor God for us to keep praying for the same thing or does it show a lack of submission to his will?
  • Heaven Would Be Hell Without God - All our explorations and adventures and projects in the eternal heaven — and I believe there will be many — will pale in comparison to the wonder of being with God and entering into his happiness.
  • The Dangerous Allure of Being a Cultural Warrior -So much of what we encounter every day seeks to make us ambassadors of earthly domains. The news, our neighborhoods, and especially our social media seek to recruit us to take up their cause and devote ourselves to them. But in the gospel, we’ve been made ambassadors for Christ. His agenda is ours, and he is the one in whom we hope.

Please read them and use them as discipleship opportunities to discuss with one another. You can also view an archive of recommended discipleship resources here.

As mentioned this past Sunday, we will be nominating elders at our next Members Meeting on April 29, 2018. While the current elders will nominate future elders at this meeting, we would like the congregation to submit their recommendations to us.

Please take a moment and submit any names of those men in the church who you would recognize as meeting the biblical qualifications of serving as an elder (1 Timothy 3:1-7, Titus 1:6-9) in our congregation, and whom you could at the present time see yourself supporting.

You can submit your elder recommendations here.

Our next HRF Members Meeting will be April 29, 2018, at 3pm. Members Meetings serve as a way we care for another and carry out our responsibilities as members of a local church. If you are a member of HRF, please make every effort to attend.

Here the dates for our remaining member's meetings for 2018:

  • July 29, 2018
  • October 28, 2018
